Aggressive, throaty vintage tone with deep lows, muscular mids and increased output.
The Black Dog is a powerful vintage-voiced humbucker designed for players who want the character and dynamics of a classic PAF with extra weight, output and midrange authority.
Hand-wound with modern polysol wire, the Black Dog builds upon the asymmetrical coil concept of a traditional PAF-style pickup while adding greater output, grind and midrange presence. The result is a rich, aggressive voice with extended bass response and plenty of clarity.
Its strong, muscular mids and deep low end make it particularly suited to hot Blues and Hard Rock, while retaining excellent definition and note separation. Single notes have plenty of weight and sustain, while the smooth yet solid high end sings beautifully as gain is increased.
Clean tones remain full-bodied and resonant, with excellent string separation and clarity in complex chords.
The Black Dog is also an excellent choice for extended-scale instruments. Seven-string and Baritone guitars benefit from its improved low-end definition, controlled highs and powerful midrange response.
Blues, Garage, Punk, Grunge, Alternative, Classic Rock, Heavy Rock and Metal.
Equally at home in any solid-body guitar and particularly well suited to extended-range instruments or guitars that lack midrange body and authority.
