The Riff Raff humbucker delivers a tight, punchy bass response, focused upper mids and a smooth, biting high end. It captures the unmistakable voice of early-'60s humbucker-driven rock 'n' roll while offering the clarity and control needed for modern high-gain applications.
Based on the shorter, rough-cast Alnico V magnets used in 1960-era PAF-style humbuckers, the Riff Raff features a more symmetrical wind of 42 AWG plain enamel wire. This produces a tighter, more focused response with increased upper-mid presence and brighter, more articulate highs.
The low end is deep but highly controlled, while the additional high-end cut provides plenty of snap and attack. The result is an aggressive vintage voice capable of delivering everything from organic clean tones to classic overdriven rock sounds.
Although voiced primarily for vintage rock, the Riff Raff also performs exceptionally well with higher-gain rigs, offering the punch, focus and clarity that hard rock and metal players demand.
Blues, Funk, Indie, Reggae, Britpop, Garage, Punk, Alternative, Classic Rock, Heavy Rock and '80s Metal.
Suitable for solid-body and semi-acoustic guitars, particularly double-cut and single-cut glued-neck instruments. An excellent choice for any guitar that would benefit from a brighter, punchier rock 'n' roll voice. Also works exceptionally well in baritone guitars.
