Does the capacitor value affect tone at 10?
Yes, but the effect is minimal.
With the tone control fully open (at 10), the pot's resistance insulates the circuit, allowing only a fraction of high frequencies to pass to ground. The difference between 0.022 µF and 0.047 µF is subtle at full volume and only becomes obvious as you roll the tone control down.
Tone at 10: The capacitor sits in series with the tone pot inside a side branch running parallel to your volume pot. Because a tiny amount of signal bleeds through even when fully open, high-fidelity components like Bare Knuckle capacitors help preserve maximum clarity.
Tone turned down: The capacitor value takes over, driving the roll-off curve and overall brightness.
Circuit Loading: 500k Volume + 500k Tone Pot
