The Impulse is a full, tight and highly versatile humbucker set developed with Northlane guitarist Josh Smith, designed for players who demand clarity and control across down-tuned, extended-range and conventional guitars.
The bridge pickup delivers a broad and balanced response with muscular low-mids, controlled bass and a full high end. Its Alnico 5 magnet and carefully voiced 12.7 kΩ wind provide substantial output without excessive compression, allowing the natural character of the guitar to remain present while keeping low tunings tight and articulate.
The neck pickup uses a more moderate 7.9 kΩ wind with an Alnico 5 magnet, providing a balanced and open response with excellent clarity across the frequency range. It works particularly well for clean and driven tones, while retaining enough body for lead playing and heavier applications.
The Impulse is designed around a broad, neutral midrange that avoids excessive emphasis in any particular frequency. This allows it to complement the natural voice of different guitars while maintaining clarity and consistency across registers. The controlled low end makes it particularly effective in baritone and heavily detuned instruments, while the full midrange gives rock and medium-gain tones a muscular character.
The four-conductor configuration also provides additional wiring flexibility, allowing series, split-coil and parallel-coil options.
