The Mule is a vintage-voiced humbucker set inspired by the classic late-'59 PAF, designed to deliver exceptional balance, clarity, dynamic response and an expressive vintage character.
Each pickup is wound using differing numbers of turns of vintage-correct 42 AWG plain enamel wire. This asymmetrical winding approach contributes to the pickup's open response, extended dynamics and vocal character, allowing subtle differences in playing attack and volume to remain clearly articulated.
Both pickups use sand-cast Alnico IV magnets, providing a fast and responsive bass, fuller midrange and a smooth, controlled high end. Vintage-style construction includes butyrate bobbins, maple spacers, nickel-plated slugs, Fillister No. 5 pole screws and a solid nickel-silver baseplate.
At lower gain settings, The Mule delivers rich harmonic detail and an open, articulate response. As the amplifier is pushed, it develops smooth harmonic feedback and complex overtones while retaining the clarity and dynamics associated with a refined vintage PAF-style pickup.
The Mule is particularly well suited to players seeking authentic vintage character with enough versatility and definition to cover a wide range of musical styles.
Blues, Country, Jazz, Funk, Indie, Reggae, Britpop, Classic Rock, Heavy Rock and Metal.
Solid-body, semi-acoustic and hollow-body guitars, particularly single-cut and glued-neck instruments. Ideal for guitars that would benefit from a more even frequency response, improved dynamics, enhanced clarity and an expressive vintage voice.
