We believe in taking the time to do things properly.
At Fret & Grain, every ukulele is carefully diagnosed, measured, adjusted and play-tested. Neck relief, string height, nut height, saddle height and intonation all work together to determine how the instrument feels, responds and sounds.
String height is especially important. Too low can cause fret buzz, while too high can make fretting uncomfortable and affect intonation. The balance between the bass and treble sides also influences playability and tonal response.
With over two decades of experience and several thousand instruments set up, we understand that every ukulele has its own workmanship, construction and tolerances. Each instrument is assessed individually rather than simply applying fixed measurements.
